NIHB Counselling in Ontario: How to Access Therapy

🌿 What is NIHB?

The Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program provides coverage for a range of health services for eligible First Nations and Inuit individuals.

This includes access to mental health counselling services, helping reduce financial barriers and increase access to support.

🌿 Does NIHB Cover Counselling?

Yes, NIHB counselling services may be fully covered when working with an approved provider.

I am able to provide direct billing through NIHB, meaning there is often no out-of-pocket cost for eligible clients.

🌿 Who is Eligible for NIHB Counselling?

NIHB is available to: Registered First Nations individuals & Recognized Inuit individuals

If you’re unsure about your eligibility, you’re not alone. The process can feel unclear, and I am able to support you in any questions you may have.

🌿 What Can NIHB Counselling Help With?

NIHB-covered therapy can support a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and overwhelm

  • Stress and burnout

  • Life transitions

  • Emotional regulation

  • Counselling for children, teens, adults, and families

Therapy provides a space to explore your experiences in a way that feels safe, supportive, and at your own pace.

With over 10 years of experience working alongside First Nations communities in public service, I bring a respectful, trauma-informed approach to therapy. I’m honoured to continue offering NIHB counselling in Ontario to Indigenous clients in private practice. My work focuses on creating a space that feels safe, non-judgmental, collaborative, and grounded in your lived experience.
